Small purchases quickly add up when one’s already paying for college. Since many students are living independently for the first time, handling simple finances can be tricky. A college education can become costly for students and their families, so any other goods are considered luxury. Especially fashionable goods! However, there are a few ways to still look model-esque, without burning your wallet.
1. Your new friend = Clearance!
Seriously! There are some valuable finds on the clearance rack. The shopper must metaphorically ‘dig through the sand’ to find the buried treasures.
2. T.J. Maxx, Marshall’s, and Gabriel Brothers – Just check em’ out!
These stores sure beat the clearance rack cause the whole store is for sale! Considering this, shopping at discount retailers will not only save you money, but time. Don’t let yourself miss out!
3. Two words: Plato’s Closet
Plato’s Closet is a higher-end thrift store; the store resells gently used clothing at discounted prices. Being organized by size and color, this store is more convenient than other thrift stores. Also, you can sell gently used clothes to Plato’s Closet, and they’ll reward you with cash or store credit.
4. Speaking of which, donate gently used clothes to Fashion Exchanges!
Want some quick cash, or a quick clothing swap? Plato’s Closet website, also posts what clothes they currently need, which can be helpful so sellers know what shoppers are currently looking for.
5. Lastly, shop smart!
Shopping around before making a purchase can be beneficial. While it can be time consuming, a shopper has the potential to save a substantial amount of money by comparing prices before making a commitment to one. As Cher in Clueless preached, “always do a lap around the main level, before committing to a location.” She was said that in terms of enjoying a party, but they same should go for shopping as well!
