This summer, I was the LensCrafters Product Intern at Luxottica Retail North America. Located in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Over the ten weeks of interning there, I did buying assistance for my supervisor. Whom was in charge of buying all luxury brands in the United States and Canada; including Tory Burch, Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Armani Exchange, Coach, Tiffany, Prada, Miu Miu, Bvulgari, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, DKNY, Persol, Zenga, Cartier and Vogue – to name them all!
Many of my hours were spent running three different buying reports; the Verification Report, Assorting Report and Discontinued by Cluster by Brand Report. The Verification Report analyses each SKU, of product, and knows what month it comes in or out, if being phased out. The Assorting Report let the buyers know if they bought too much or too little of any particular item. The Discontinued by Cluster by Brand Report showed the buyer how much was discontinued or inactive by sitting in LensCrafters.
My favorite duty, was working in the LensCrafters Frame Room, which was used exclusively by the buyers. The room displayed each brand frame currently in store, and the ones that soon to be in store. I rearranged the boards for the retail fiscal quarter ahead. This took about two hours each, since I created labels and arranged all the pegs. The buyers came into look at the boards, to find what they needed for photo-shoots, and had meetings with vendors so they could position the frames properly.
My internship was an amazing experience, since I got my first taste of the corporate retail world. I was also as pleased to work with amazing brands, as I was to receive a pair of free Ray Bans!
